Notes:  This paper addresses the impact of a non-offending mother’s own history of childhood sexual abuse in their child’s therapy, post-disclosure of child sexual assault, by exploring three themes that emerged from the preliminary analysis of original data collected in an Australian Research Council Collaborative Grant investigating counselling strategies used to address child sexual assault. These themes are:
- The perceptions of counsellors and mothers of the impact of a maternal history of child sexual assault on the therapeutic process for the child; and,
- The ways in which the counsellors’ perceptions of the above influence their choice of therapeutic frameworks and techniques.
