Notes:  Discusses the importance of developing coordinated responses to domestic violence and the need for interagency collaboration as a means for prioritising the safety of victims and ensuring offenders are held accountable. The concepts of prevention and violence as a continuum are examined and it is argued that preventative strategies need to be implemented at each point of the continuum, for example through early intervention. Emphasis is also placed on the repetitive nature of domestic violence. A history of coordinated approaches to domestic violence adopted in South Australia since the 1980s is then provided and some of the current initiatives outlined. The paper concludes by discussing some of the implications and potential benefits of coordinated approaches.
