Notes:  General Overview: This paper discusses the application of 4 crime prevention approaches for addressing domestic violence in the context of Queensland. A literature review is given.

Objective: The 4 crime prevention approaches from criminology examined are: criminal justice approaches, situational approaches, community (social) approaches, and developmental approaches. It concludes that domestic violence is a complex problem, requiring multiple approaches, with merit in applying strategies from all of the 4 crime prevention approaches.

Conclusions: It suggests this kind of situational crime prevention has benefits to victims of domestic violence as well as benefits to police and governments. Developmental approaches are suggested as giving opportunities through schools to change the culture against domestic violence, along with information about risk indicators of perpetrating domestic violence that also are developmental approaches to preventing domestic violence in future generations.
