Notes:	Provides an overview of current research into the nature and prevalence of domestic violence globally and its emergence as a significant social and health care issue, before identifying some of the key strategies of NSW Health aimed at addressing violence against women and children. The focus of the paper is then shifted to the relationship between domestic violence and sexual assault and some of the findings of recent research are presented. Suggests that sexual assault services be incorporated into routine screening programmes for domestic violence, as a way of enhancing the knowledge base and delivery of health care services. The Northern Sydney Women’s Health service is used as an example of how such an approach might be implemented.
