This report presents findings from a national study in the US which examined the factors that have influenced increases in arrest and dual arrests in domestic violence cases. In part one of the report, the author examined factors related to all domestic violence arrests including perpetrator characteristics, frequency of arrests, the effect of state laws on arrest policies and the factors that affect who is arrested. The second party of the study examined case records from 25 police departments to consider a more in-depth analysis of arrest factors, whether police apply state laws consistently, factors that lead to conviction and factors association with offending.
