This report discusses the various barriers to accessing the legal system and support services faced by culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women who have been in situations of family violence. The research comprised surveys and focus groups with Victorian CALD women, consultations with service providers, and an online survey. Workshops were also conducted to help formulate recommendations. Four areas were identified as priorities for change: (1) changing attitudes and building awareness of family violence; (2) overcoming language barriers; (3) cross-sector partnerships; and (4) providing longer-term supports.
