Authors: Office of Women's Policy
Keywords: Overview;Policy;Prevention
Categories: Prevention
Year: 2009
Publisher: Office of Women's Policy, Department of Planning and Community Development
Notes:  General Overview: This fact sheet describes the process of consultation which preceded the design of the Victorian Government’s “State Plan to Prevent Violence against Women: 2010 - 2020”. Background research was conducted by surveying community sectors and their corresponding government departments as well as specialist service providers and community organisations. Subsequently, policy guidance was sought from government departments and specialist knowledge obtained from family violence and sexual assault services. Ultimately, working groups representing each of the five sectors defined for the state plan were created to review proposals and to make suggestions for the state plan. Once the plan is launched, ongoing consultation will be required to sustain the plan’s execution.
