Notes:  Overview: With funding from the Women's Services Network (WESNET), a collaborative project was conducted in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) to increase capacity for service providers in their support for women with a disability who are fleeing domestic and family violence. Project partners were the Women's Centre for Health Matters (WCHM), the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) and Women with Disabilities ACT (WWDACT). This resource reports on the delivery and outcomes of the project.

Discussion: Research by Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) shows that women with disabilities experience violence at higher rates than non-disabled women and that services designed for this group of women are severely limited. The aim of the project was to develop a set of best practice principles to be used to assess current practice, raise awareness and improve accessibility of domestic violence services in the Australian Capital Territory by women with disabilities.

The audit questions used to assess the accessibility of services is included as an attachment to the report.
