Title: Coordinating NSW govenment action against domestic and family violence : final report
Authors: prepared for the Human Service & Criminal Justice CEOs Cluster by ARTD Consultants
Keywords: Policy
Year: 2007
Publisher: NSW Dept. of Premier and Cabinet
Notes:  Discussion: :The authors were engaged to identify the best approach to coordinate the New South Wales government’s domestic violence policies, programs and services. This report examines the history of domestic violence policy since the 1980s as well as the current policy context. It outlines current government expenditure on domestic violence made by the Departments of Corrective Services, Community Services, Housing, Health, Police, Attorney-General’s, Legal Aid and Education and Training. Most money is spent on dealing with the costs of domestic violence rather than prevention or services. The report identifies the major activities undertaken in the last four years, including the Domestic Violence Intervention Court Model, the Staying Home Leaving Violence framework and the regional activities. It also identifies areas where the current strategies are inadequate and makes recommendations for improving the coordination of NSW Government action to address domestic violence.
