Notes:	General Overview: In 1994, the Women’s Legal Services NSW (then Women’s Legal Resources Centre) published “Quarter Way to Equal” (QWE), which documented findings of their research into the legal needs and barriers to accessing appropriate legal services of migrant and refugee women in New South Wales. In this report, “A Long Way to Equal”, findings of subsequent research, conducted in 2005, to examine the ongoing barriers to access to legal services experienced by migrant and refugee women in NSW are presented. Discussion: The research reported here aimed to gauge the ongoing relevance of QWE, the extent to which its 53 recommendations had been implemented and to identify ongoing and emerging barriers to migrant and refugee women’s access to legal services. The report, which focuses on community-based legal and migrant services, concludes that many barriers to accessing legal services for migrant and refugee women remain unchanged. Nineteen revised recommendations are provided, largely relating to the provision of accessible and appropriate information, the improvement of translating and interpreting services and the development of a coordinated approach to service provision and oversight.
