Notes:  This UK government publication provides updated advice to agencies involved in establishing and delivering a sanctuary scheme, and aims to promote and share good practice.

Sanctuary schemes are multi-agency, victim-centred initiatives which enable victims of domestic violence to remain safely in their homes through installation of a ‘sanctuary’ (or safe room and enhanced security) in the home, and provision of support to victims.

The practice guide is informed by in-depth case studies in eight UK locations, and by interviews with government stakeholders, service providers, and households using sanctuary scheme services.
