This paper is one of several publications resulting from a multi-year project by the BC Society of Transition Houses in Vancouver Canada which examined reducing barriers to support for women who experience violence and mental illness or substance use. The toolkit is designed for staff and organisations that provide transition housing services, but has application to all services that provide support to women experiencing violence. It is designed to support services which work with experiencing violence and mental illness or substance abuse. It provides an overview of the issues along with an outline of promising practices, practical examples and samples policies.
