Abstract:  The Loud Way Home is an anthology initiated by ACON to amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence, offering a platform for healing, advocacy, and community building. The anthology aims to address the unique experiences and structural challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, who are often excluded from mainstream conversations around sexual violence. By sharing diverse survivor stories, the collection seeks to illuminate the intersections of trauma, resilience, and identity within the LGBTQ+ community, particularly highlighting how systemic discrimination—such as heteronormativity, cisnormativity, and colonialism—exacerbates the vulnerabilities and challenges these individuals encounter.

The project was co-designed with survivors, incorporating input from ACON’s advisory group and the Independent Collective of Survivors to create a supportive, empowering space. The anthology reflects ACON's values of equity, community, and collaboration, with contributions from various LGBTQ+ authors who share their journeys of survival and strength. Through this collection, ACON seeks not only to validate these experiences but also to advocate for greater inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals in broader frameworks of violence prevention, response, and recovery.
