Abstract:  This chapter argues that male entitlement is central to understanding intimate partner sexual violence (IPSV) in the absence of a clear perpetrator profile. It explores the foundational role of the gender hierarchy, male power, and violence, as well as societal norms around marriage and the nuclear family, in perpetuating IPSV.
