Abstract: | The causes of intimate partner sexual coercion are complex and multifaceted. This chapter examines the characteristics and motivations of perpetrators of intimate partner sexual violence (IPSV), a topic that has received limited scholarly attention compared to other areas of sexual and domestic violence. Research on IPSV lags behind broader studies on sexual assault, possibly due to perceptions that IPSV is less problematic than other forms of sexual violence. The chapter highlights the need for increased focus on this area to inform assessment and intervention strategies. |
