Abstract: | This study examines the mediating role of moral disengagement in the relationship between Dark Triad personality traits (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and narcissism) and ambivalent sexism among male perpetrators of sexual violence against women and community men. The sample comprised 74 convicted individuals and 160 community men. Findings indicate that perpetrators exhibit higher levels of ambivalent sexism, moral disengagement, and psychopathy compared to community men. The relationship between Dark Triad traits and ambivalent sexism is fully mediated by moral disengagement mechanisms. These insights are pertinent for developing targeted treatment programs for sexual violence offenders. |
