dc.description.abstract | This report outlines findings from First Nations consultations conducted to inform the development of a National Anti-Racism Framework. Drawing on over 496 contributions, it highlights the prevalence and impacts of systemic racism across education, health, and justice sectors, as well as rural, metropolitan, and remote areas. Participants emphasised the pervasive effects of systemic racism, unconscious bias, and historical legacies of colonisation on First Nations communities. Key issues include over-policing, inequitable health services, barriers in education, and lack of cultural safety across sectors. Recommendations focus on legislative reform, accountability mechanisms, standardised cultural safety education, and increased First Nations representation in leadership. The report underscores the importance of addressing intergenerational trauma, fostering collaboration with communities, and implementing a standalone First Nations Anti-Racism Framework as a critical step toward equity and justice. | en_US |
