This report examines the experiences and perceptions of sexual violence among LGBTQ+ people in New South Wales and across Australia, focusing on a historically overlooked and excluded population. It builds on evidence from studies such as Private Lives 3 and the 2018 Australian Trans and Gender Diverse Sexual Health Survey, which document high rates of sexual violence in LGBTQ+ communities. The research explores contexts of sexual violence, disclosure, help-seeking behaviours, and the impacts on LGBTQ+ people. It also investigates perceptions of sexual violence within LGBTQ+ communities and their readiness to respond to it. The findings aim to inform ACON’s efforts in prevention and support for victim-survivors while influencing broader policy and practice in NSW.en_US
