Young women from African backgrounds and sexual violence

Abstract

This report explores the understandings and experiences of sexual violence and coercion among young women aged 18–25 from African refugee and migrant backgrounds in Australia. It highlights barriers to disclosing sexual violence, including stigma, cultural taboos, and limited culturally tailored services. The study identifies gaps in service provision and the need for culturally sensitive education and prevention programs.
