This report examines the current state of knowledge on perpetrator interventions in Australia, with a focus on family and domestic violence programs. It synthesises Australian and international research to analyse the effectiveness of different intervention models, including Men’s Behaviour Change Programs (MBCPs), psychoeducational approaches, cognitive behavioural therapy, family therapy, and matched interventions. The report explores challenges in program implementation, effectiveness in reducing recidivism, and key policy considerations for strengthening perpetrator accountability. It also discusses international models and the role of broader systems, such as child protection and corrections, in responding to perpetrators. The findings highlight the need for integrated, evidence-based interventions that consider the diverse needs of perpetrators and prioritise victim safety.en_US
