Notes: | This article examines a domestic violence prevention project conducted in a 900-employee garment factory in Tennessee, USA. Around ninety per cent of the workers were women, and severe incidents of domestic violence had occurred to some of them. Although the employer and staff agreed on the benefit of the project, issues concerning the partnership between researchers, the employer, advocates, employees and the employer's foundation were complex. The key aspects of collaborative research discussed are: common goals; consensus on values; agreed-on responsibilities and roles; directive and receptive leadership; decision-making process; communication mechanisms; and a monitoring process. |
