Notes: | Reviews recent literature and research claiming female domestic violence is as prevalent as male violence and argues that the methodologies used to reach these findings were flawed. While male victims of domestic violence are as entitled to support and safety as female victims, denying that women are at a much greater risk only serves to perpetuate existing power relations. Suggests that what is needed is a framework for understanding the epidemiology of male and female violence so that we may work towards challenging dominant masculine values. |
