Notes: | Analyses and discusses recent data concerning the impact of parental marital conflict and divorce on children’s education, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between problems stemming from parental conflict and those stemming from the divorce itself. Utilising the ‘Family Relations’ questionnaire, levels of marital quarrelling and marital violence were assessed and then examined in relation to children’s educational progress. Concludes that parental conflict itself has no significant effect on children’s educational attainment, then poses some possible reasons for this finding and suggests future directions for research. |
