Title: Intimate partner violence: doctors should offer referral to existing interventions, while better evidence is awaited
Other Titles: BMJ (International ed.)
Authors: Ferris, Lorraine E
Keywords: Health;Screening;Early intervention
Year: 2004
Publisher: BMJ Publishing Group
Citation: 328, March 2004
Notes:  Considers the question of what doctors presented with suspected or likely cases of intimate partner violence should do with respect to offering referrals and/or appropriate intervention, and debates the utility of universal screening as a way of addressing this question. A series of secondary and tertiary interventions that might form part of a practitioner's referral is suggested and the need for further research into and evaluation of existing programmes is highlighted. Studies from the US, UK and Australia are quoted.
