Title: | Intimate partner violence: doctors should offer referral to existing interventions, while better evidence is awaited |
Other Titles: | BMJ (International ed.) |
Authors: | Ferris, Lorraine E |
Keywords: | Health;Screening;Early intervention |
Year: | 2004 |
Publisher: | BMJ Publishing Group |
Citation: | 328, March 2004 |
Notes: | Considers the question of what doctors presented with suspected or likely cases of intimate partner violence should do with respect to offering referrals and/or appropriate intervention, and debates the utility of universal screening as a way of addressing this question. A series of secondary and tertiary interventions that might form part of a practitioner's referral is suggested and the need for further research into and evaluation of existing programmes is highlighted. Studies from the US, UK and Australia are quoted. |
