Notes:  Presents a review of the literature pertaining to vicarious trauma and its relationship to organisational factors such as workload, group support, education and working environment. Some of the organisational correlates of burnout amongst social workers are outlined and it is suggested that such research provides a useful starting point for analysing the organisational correlates of vicarious trauma. Key implications of themes emerging from this US research for organisations are discussed and a range of preventative strategies are recommended.
