Notes:  This article describes a cross-sectional study of 2945 women who presented to 12 orthopaedic fracture clinics in Canada, US, India, Denmark and the Netherlands where each completed two questionnaires: Women Abuse Screening Tool (WAST) and Partner Violence Screen (PVS). An analysis of their responses was performed to consider factors associated with intimate partner violence (IPV).

Ultimately, the findings of the PRAISE investigators support the view that screening of female attendants of orthopaedic fracture clinics would be warranted as one in six women will have a history of domestic violence and one in fifty will present to the clinic with injuries resulting directly from IPV.
