Notes:  This article is an outline of the Tasmanian whole-of-government strategy against family violence, Safe at Home. The article is primarily a description and account of the Safe at Home program although its uniqueness and innovation as a criminal justice, government-led, integrated response to family violence is noted. It outlines features of the strategy, which include:

* New legislation,
* New services, including counselling for adults and children, court support,
* Training and new staffing for existing services, such as prosecutions and Legal Aid,
* New policing practices, including the use of risk assessment at every incident to determine responses, and
* New protocols, policies and accountability structures for all agencies, which ensure that the system works effectively as an authentic integrated and coordinated response.

The author concludes the detailed description with the suggestion that the Tasmanian strategy provides a benchmark integrated response for Australia.
