Notes:  General Overview: This DVD, produced for NSW Health, is a resource for training health and other workers to identify and respond to domestic and family violence.

Discussion: The DVD contains five sections. The first contains personal accounts of domestic violence. These accounts cover financial control, social isolation, psychological and emotional abuse, health impacts, the impact on children and barriers to safety. In the second section, health workers discuss their experiences of identifying and responding to domestic violence. Topics include screening, supporting victims, safety assessment and planning, child protection, advocacy, and information and referral.

The third section focuses on Aboriginal family violence and includes the voices of women who have experienced violence, community members and workers. The fourth section dramatises routine screening. The fifth section contains stories from survivors, focussing on the journey to safety and recovery.

The cover notes contain suggestions for using the DVD in training.
