This report examines research conducted into the experiences of adolescents aged 12-18 years who used violence against family members, resulting in their facing the criminal justice system. Parents and other family members were also interviewed for their perspectives on the violence and on their experiences with police, court and social services to which they turned for help and support. All research participants were from the state of Victoria.
The report includes a literature review, a list of recommendations aimed at improving the criminal justice response in Victoria to adolescent violence in the home (AVITH) and a set of conclusions which identify common themes identified through the research.
