Title: Adolescent violence to parents : current interventions in the United States and Canada and implications for Australia
Authors: Howard, Jo
Keywords: Prevention;Interagency work;Early intervention;Adolescent violence towards parents
Year: 2010
Publisher: The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust of Australia, Canberra
Notes:  This paper reports on the study tour undertaken by the author to Canada and the United States (US) in 2010. Howard’s purpose was to investigate risk factors and determinants of adolescent violence in the home, and to inspect best practice and evidence-based interventions which both treat and prevent adolescent violence in the home.

Howard highlights one program in particular. The ‘Step Up’ program partners police and courts together with community-based organisations to successfully deliver a coordinated response to adolescent violence. Used across the US, Step UP shows promising results in supporting adolescent violence behaviour change and increasing victim safety.
