Notes:  This comprehensive report summarises findings from a US study which examined beliefs and practices of child custody evaluators in cases where parents going through a divorce made allegations of domestic violence. The study involved two parts: surveying 465 custody evaluators, 200 judges, 131 legal aid attorneys, 119 private attorneys and 193 domestic workers; and interviewing 24 victims of domestic violence who have negative experiences with custody-visitation outcomes. Findings address factors which influence professional beliefs and practices. Detailed implications for practice are discussed.
