Notes:  General Overview: Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) play an integral part of the medico-legal examination of sexual assault victims in legal prosecutions in the US. This specialist area of forensic nursing is now expanding their area of responsibility to include the victims of domestic violence. This paper looks at how forensic nursing programs are being modelled to incorporate the input of the prosecutor and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) in a multidisciplinary approach to supporting the domestic violence victim.
