dc.description.notes"Paper Two of the Violence Against Women Community Attitudes Project"<br/ >The purpose of this review is to inform and stimulate interest on a range of possible types of campaigns and good practice guidelines for communication components of social marketing and public education. It focuses on the general community not culturally specific or same-sex relationships although campaigns with these focuses are included. Campaigns are sorted into four categories: general or specific awareness; targeting men that engage in violence to seek help; early primary and secondary prevention campaigns; and social norms campaigns. For each campaign the review gives a profile summarising major themes and then comments on ; (i) good practice guidelines; (ii) evaluation; (iii) other campaign intervention components; and (iv )implications for community attitudes survey. Concludes that public campaigns must continue at 2 levels: individual - encouraging people to speak out and change; and at a societal level – aiming to change the environment in which violence against women occurs. Includes a table of all the campaigns reviewed with major elements highlighted.en
