Evaluates the effectiveness and implementation of a three-month pilot study conducted into routine domestic violence screening of patients at two Northern Territory public hospitals and the development of a training package and resource kit for hospital staff. Section One outlines the background, aims and management of the pilot study and sets out some of its key components, such as the screening tool used, patient surveys and focus group discussions. Mechanisms utilised to communicate the existence and purpose of the pilot study are also identified and included the distribution of newsletters and posters and the publication of the resource kit on the Department website. Section Two sets out the process undertaken for evaluating the pilot project and summarises its findings. The extent to which the original objectives of the pilot were met is then discussed and some recommendations for future development and implementation of domestic violence screening in health settings are provided.
