Notes:	Committee P 8006 was responsible for preparation of this standard General Overview: This New Zealand document establishes the minimum standards to be met by individuals and agencies working with families living with family violence, child abuse or neglect. Discussion: The document sets out voluntary standards, which focus on working with victims of abuse. The introduction provides a definition of family violence, sets out the principles upon which the standards are based and discusses the particular circumstances surrounding family violence in the Maori population. The standards require agencies undertaking screening or risk assessment to have clear written guidelines and adequate training, debriefing and supervision for all practitioners. The document sets out minimum standards for screening and responding to disclosures and provides examples of screening tools in attachments. It provides standards for safety planning. The document includes background information about the prevalence of family violence, the cycle of violence and the Maori understanding of health in attachments.
