Notes:  Provides a summary of crime prevention strategies being undertaken in Indigenous communities nationally and in various overseas jurisdictions, such as New Zealand, Canada and the United States. Definitional issues and best practice models are discussed in relation to a range of areas, including family violence, drug and alcohol abuse and homicide. Strategies aimed at specific criminal areas are outlined in detail, including community policing strategies, night patrols, justice groups, family violence projects, perpetrator programmes, alternative sentencing initiatives and community healing programmes. Chapter 4 addresses the role of the Commonwealth Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) strategy, as well as various State and Territory government initiatives, and provides a brief description of the family violence projects currently being implemented across Australia. Projects aimed primarily at men and/or children and young people are also described.
