Notes:  This project was implemented at Penrith Women’s Health Centre during 2002 to develop the skills of women with intellectual disabilities and improve their social relationships, independence and safety. The creation of partnerships between disability services, mainstream services, Indigenous communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities was also intended. The women with intellectual disabilities who participated in the nine-week group programme reported learning ‘a great deal’. There were also parent information sessions and trainings for workers in the disability field. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community took part in different stages of the project, and networks were built with migrant workers and services.
