Compiles the findings and recommendations of the CEAVAW Project, a government-based initiative aimed at enhancing the coordination of services, addressing gaps and duplication in service delivery and developing new statewide policy directions in the context of violence against women. The project, a response to the Report of the Taskforce on Women and the Criminal Code, involved the collaboration of a range of government departments and community-based services. A background to the project is provided, highlighting some of the major issues in this area, and the programmes developed by each of the departments involved in the study are outlined. The findings of the gaps and duplication analysis are then presented and a strategic framework and action plan, aimed at enhancing responses to violence against women, are set out on the basis of this analysis, addressing four key areas: community education and prevention; approaches to linking related services; legal/ court assistance; and policy and planning issues.
