This is the fifth in a series of reports on the Northern Territory Government Domestic Violence Strategy Data Collection Project. This project is unique in Australia, in that it is the only uniform and comprehensive system to collect, analyse and report regularly on statistical information gathered from government and non-government organisations. The report is strengthened this year by the inclusion of new statistical information provided by NT Police. Provides data on the incidence, nature, frequency, duration and location of domestic and family violence as well as information on the relationships between victims and offenders, young people exposed to violence, sources of help for victims, the role of alcohol, drugs, pregnancy and disability and the demographic characteristics of victims and offenders. The overview summarises significant statistical trends, identifies participating agencies and sets out definitions for key terms used in the research, such as economic abuse, spiritual/cultural abuse, incident, victim and offender. Contains comprehensive tables and comparisons of data over the span of the project and data on violence experienced by Indigenous victims.
