Title: Report on system options for delivering domestic and family violence responses statewide : a report to the Queensland Department of Families
Authors: Siggins Miller Consultants
Keywords: Policy
Year: 2001
Publisher: Queensland Department of Families, [Brisbane
Notes:  Reviews the current state of domestic violence services in Queensland in the context of other state, national and international responses to the issue and provides recommendations for future reform and development. The first section examines Queensland services within its domestic violence service system, such as the Domestic Violence Telephone service, as well as those services, policies and legislative changes which impact on these agencies. Responses to domestic violence nationally and in other state systems are then reviewed in terms of the actual services provided, the policies supporting and coordination of those services and recent initiatives and research. Comparisons are then drawn with developments in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. The conclusion sets out the major findings and recommendations of the report, emphasising the need for greater recognition of the particular position of Indigenous women, women from NESB, women in rural/remote areas and women with mental health and/or drug/alcohol problems.
