Notes:  At head of title: Northern Territory Government domestic violence strategy
Reports the methodology and results of the Northern Territory Domestic Violence Data Collection Project, an annual project aimed at establishing base-line data for the Territory on the incidence, prevalence, nature, frequency, duration and location of domestic and family violence as well as information on the relationships between victims and offenders, sources of help for victims, the role of alcohol, drugs, pregnancy and disability and the demographic characteristics of victims and offenders. The overview summarises significant statistical trends, identifies participating agencies and sets out definitions for key terms used in the research, such as economic abuse, spiritual/cultural abuse, incident, victim and offender. Argues that the findings of the 1999 report are generally consistent with those of previous years and continue to show a heightened risk of violence in Indigenous communities, and for young people and people with a disability. The summary statistics from previous years are included in the attachments.
