Notes: | This booklet details a number of case studies undertaken by various groups around Australia under the Regional Domestic Violence Program administered by the Department of Transport and Regional Services. This initiative is part of the Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) strategy and aims to document effective approaches used in regional, rural and remote communities to respond to domestic violence. Seventeen agencies spread across each state and territory in Australia were given funding to support their unique programme. Examples include community education projects (including working with young people in schools), training facilitators to run groups for men wishing to end their violence, outreach programmes, extension to the Night Patrol programme within an Indigenous community, establishment of an action plan to reinforce interagency coordination, development of protocols and practice standards, development of an assessment tool to encourage linkages with support systems, peer education projects and research looking at the link between women in farming communities who are experiencing domestic violence and negative outcomes regarding succession planning, Family Law property rights and inheritance issues. |
