Section 2 provides background information on the nature and distribution of a variety of forms of violence, which are according to the literature and other empirical evidence, prevalent in some or many Indigenous communities. Contains statistics on spouse assault; homicide; rape and sexual assault; violence towards children; suicide; and self injury. Section 3 provides descriptive material on violence programmes that have been or are being implemented, or were planned for implementation in Indigenous communities during the 1990s.
