NCP Report No. 8
Builds on the earlier report, ‘Working with adolescents to prevent domestic violence: rural town model’ which provided a framework to undertake work with adolescents in a rural town, with a dual focus on school based activities and support for individual youths and their families. This report sets out a framework suited to rural towns with a large Aboriginal presence and which service outlying Aboriginal communities. The proposed Indigenous rural model also has a dual focus but places greater emphasis on community outreach activity with vulnerable youth and their families. The need to develop protective strategies for Indigenous girls is also highlighted.
