Notes:	Comprehensive manual outlining a model of best practice for groupwork with men who wish to stop violent and abusive behaviour towards their women partners and family. The groupwork occurs in the context of a network of services including the criminal justice system, services for women and services for children. The model proposes ways of actively involving service providers from all services in promoting practices based on social justice, promoting responsibility in men and identifying the political nature of the intervention. The fundamental assumptions on which the work is based are outlined in detail. The model is based on ideas of change which are drawn from "narrative' modes of therapy. The programme described is experience based (as opposed to educational), in that it focuses on the man's experience and on assisting him to develop his own ideas around non violent ways of being and in respect of his preferred ways of being. The process of the group is through a combination of reflection and discussion. The primary goal is the cessation of the man's violence and abuse (including coercion). The man chooses his own path and identity in achieving this shared direction.
