Notes:  One of the specific goals set by the NT Government under the Domestic Violence Strategy is the collection of data across government and non-government agencies throughout the Territory through a unified data collection system, a first in Australia. The main objective of the Data Collection Project is to obtain a more accurate picture of the incidence and trends in domestic violence across the NT and to set a statistical baseline from which incidence rates can be monitored in the future. This report is based on data collected between September 1994 and May, 1996. Data were received from nine agencies. Outlines key findings regarding the gender, ages and cultural background and relationship of perpetrators and victims; presence of children; whether alcohol involved in the incident; and types of domestic violence involved.
