Notes: | In 2004 Victoria Police introduced the Code of Practice for the Investigation of Family Violence. This Code of Practice specifies a mandatory police response to reports of family violence and introduced new guidelines for managing these incidents. This report summarises an audit conducted in 2008 by the Victorian Auditor-General examining whether Victoria Police provide safety and support services to victims and perpetrators of family violence and reduce the impact of family violence in the community. The audit reviewed police compliance with the operational, investigatory and administrative requirements of the Code of Practice and whether the implementation of the Code has resulted in better outcomes for victims and perpetrators. |
