Notes:  This best practice guide aims to assist WDVCAS (Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Scheme) workers across NSW in dealing with common issues and highlights the best principles and practices in this context. It documents current best practice of the Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Program (WDVACP) and gives benchmarks for Schemes to work towards. This guide should be used together with the WDVCAP Policy Manual, Service Agreement, Strategic Plan, Support Workers’ Kit and New Coordinators Kit.

Section 1 outlines service provision in terms of responsive service delivery for women and young people, children; safety issues; legal representation; interagency; and complaints mechanisms.

Section 3 deals with human resource and organisational development: recruitment of ATSI staff and CALD staff; induction and training; supervisions and debriefing; organisational management policy, administration and planning.

Section 4 addresses advocacy and community development: advocacy; promotion of WDVCAS; and community education, information and development. A list of resources is also included.
