Notes:	This documents the results of a project, funded by Partnerships Against Domestic Violence (PADV) initiative, to enhance the capacity of the Department of Health Services in South Australia, its emergency departments and relevant health agencies to respond to domestic violence. The project (from 2001 to 2002) investigates the establishment of validation measures of a screening tool (Domestic Violence Identification Tool or DVIT) as a basis for the development of screening programmes for identifying domestic violence in South Australian health settings. Key results and recommendations are presented. The validation measures indicate that levels of accuracy for the DVIT compare favourably to those established for other screening tools and provide a context for the interpretation of screening outcomes for the DVIT at the individual and programme level.
