Reports the findings and methodology of a Victorian study aimed at both identifying key characteristics and behavioural patterns amongst male domestic partner abusers, as well as assessing the impact of a Men’s Behaviour Change Program on these characteristics. An overview of research into the nature of partner abuse and the classification of abusers is provided and approaches to treatment of violent male partners are reviewed. The results support the drawing of distinctions according to abuser typology and suggest a need for intervention strategies to be tailored accordingly.
